My Flower – Flowers EP [Stem Records]

by April 5, 2015

Now heading into its third year, UK outlet Stem Records turns to My Flower for a tidy new three track EP that features a remix from Winter Son featuring Gavin Miller.

My Flower originates from the meetings of two souls made up of the same essence. They have known each other for a while now and realise they have a need to create of a sound representing the synthesis of their souls.

On their first cut, ‘Flowers’, the pair showcase a penchant for celestial melodies and heavenly atmospheres as they lay down oodles of the things above lute deep house drums. The track is moody and enchanting and is even more so when remixed by Winter Son, who comes from cold Manchester nights and plays live with a TR-808 drum machine and set of percussion pads, blending the visceral energy of Depeche Mode and The Cure with the brooding atmospherics of classic Detroit techno.

Lastly, It’s A Farewell again goes in heavy on the arps and melodies and is a beautifully colourful and emotional track as a result. There is tension in its synths and drive in its drums, too, that make it all the more compelling.
