John Johnson – Impact. Incl CID Inc & Jamie Stevens Remixes [238 West Inc]

Deep Tech and House music label 238 West kicks all sorts of floor dust with their release – “Impact” by John Johnson that had originally made it’s way on to unsuspecting clubs way back in 2000. The New York musician helped carve out plenty of shapes with this one and one can see the classical staying power of the cut in question.
In the here and now, the imprint makes no mistake in roping in two of the most clever music makers of the dance music scene currently to give “Impact” two refreshing, bad assed reinterpretations. First up Finland based DJ/Producer makes quick goodness of the original, such is the quality of CID Inc’s rework. As the wobble bass kicks in, the playful vibe of this remix is certain to keep dance temples busy, world – wide. Henri’s musicality fills the tune with all the requisites of jostling between head and feet, glistening furthermore, with a mid-summer patina, of basement party sweat. There’s enough cosmopolitan bass shine one can dive in to, the grooves keep you bouncing ever so nicely and the blocky rhythms have almost too much class written all over it. The warm as toast feeling in the inside body, is fabulous to behold.
Flipping over to the B side, one finds Jamie Stevens Tech Dub mix tackling the original with uninhibited light but dense shimmering pads, uptempo percussions, and a swirling atmospheric main line, creates a dubby wonder. The drummy rhythms can catch the strobe lights and give that push all right. The rock steady bass, dunks you in to a quick pace, dark and steamy summer swinging.
