Brian Cid- MYST- Redwood [Lost & Found]

by September 16, 2014

From the time Lost & Found started up, with the elite steerage of Guy J’s vision and audacity, the course of it’s releases have set an example and a prevailing theme, which is to activate affecting melodies with deep beats, to ignite ones senses and put soul in the machines.
No surprise here when the label announces the show case work of Brian Cid; the NYC Dj/Producer makes a splash worthy of ten suns no less, with a two tracks EP. The first one- ”MYST” Original Mix has fixtures of luscious bass, with a percussive feel from the word go. There’s a haunting Vocal sample, just marsh mallow love. On top of all this, you have a driving peak time speed on the very nature of the entire story. What I can easily foresee is the track doing wondrous damage when thrown in just at the time, the Dj wants to flay the floor. This tune sets it up nicely for me to dive in to the second offering without blinking an eye. Cut to- ”Redwood”, Original Mix pulsates its way through all the eight minutes, gradually unspooling various melodic threads in to it, like chess pieces moving around. It’s a like a perfect storm of soft revolving lasers, a deep kick and a vocal that floats in and out. The progressive, bouncy quality is not lost on me and I suddenly know these tracks have been made to stand the test of time. Win, win all the way!!
