Following the critical acclaim for the launch of his new Temple Of Lions label, Seìbastien Leìger kicks off 2015 with a super exciting release on his established Mistake Music imprint…
Seìbastien Leìger’s latest work, happens to be a twin assault by way of two massively classy outings titled – Funkalaga / Toby, No Biting on (Mistakes Music). These make you wonder why the man of such influence and sturdy musicality gives dance music such elongated gaps between releases.
My eyebrows are raised ceiling high at the audaciousness of ”Funkalaga” with it’s twisting warmth. The feeling is wondrous as I find myself amongst jacking beats and a bleeping synth line. The track speaks, implores an electronic explosion of high end shameless bass throttle, and what you call ‘real churning grooves’. The thudding convulsive body and turbo charged interior beckons you to much speaker love.
On the other hand, the eye brows relax slightly with the second offering – ”Toby, No Biting” as it jerks around with an altogether flirty attitude. The broken, fragments of female vocalism thrown in, sounds unabashedly good. The track launches itself with sonar like pings and a funky bass line before adding some kinda wonky guitarism (that which comes to mind), increasingly orchestrated as a disco tune, the rumbling bass and shotgun claps pave the way in to letting it all hang loose.
All in all, a relaxed outing by Leger who keeps it, altogether tight.
