”My Symphony”- by 3 Deep feat. Tamra Keenan might be Stripped Digital’s most ambitious and experimental release offlate. Case in point, the original mix, may sound undanceable to some but the sounds here are dense, layered and atmospheric in an all together nice way. This is not brash pounding Techno, instead it’s abstract tunage at it’s best. The tone of the track, with haunting vocals from Tamra Keenan meanders in to indirect explorations and the best way to describe this tune would be – ”spacey”!!
The pack is strengthened further, by way of four delectable remixes. The first comes from the Irish duo- Cybernalia; their rework deconstructs the original with a twisted darker than ever, space age mind bender story. Completed by a more dance friendly beat pattern though. They lock the bass line tighter, keeping a structured melody going, swirling sounds and sparse use of the vocals (muted this time around), yet comes in to prominence only in an elongated break down, speaks intelligent workmanship. Hauling myself in to the Joelle Atkins Remix is like a floating progressive cloud. Atkins lay’s down a decent rhythm, pulsing melody and bass line, which never goes nuts, leveling after the initial hurrying.
Next up Ian Widgery’s Reinterpretation Mix, is my favorite as it leaves the brooding quality of the previous takes, with repetitive fissured Vocals, random high hats, atmospheric fullness, clicks and a bass bin thundering bass line, all of the treatment, sublime to the ears. I’d make shapes with this one for sure. Finishing up the package Moojaa’s remix is thick and hot, with it’s subtle acid line. With smooth snatches of the vocal, creeping between the bouncy staccato bass, the melody stay’s true around the back and woody blocks of squelch props things up nicely.
